老師向我提及英國每年聖誕都有的《Nine Lessons and Carols》
在此分享他們所唱的《In dulci jubilo》
(話說，英國聖公會的Choir真是世界級水準)

幸好網友能提供歌詞，拉丁文還不是小弟所認識的語言
(以下括號部份是從拉丁文翻譯，本身並不唱的)：

In dulci jubilo (In sweet jubilation)
Let us our homage shew;
Our heart’s joy reclineth
In praesepio, (the manger)
And like a bright star shineth
Matris in gremio. (on His mother's lap)
Alpha es et O! (Who is Alpha and Omega)

O Jesu parvule, (O infant Jesus)
I yearn for thee alway;
Listen to my ditty,
O Puer optime, (Child most excellent)
Have pity on me, pity,
O princeps gloriae! (O Prince of glory)
Trahe me post te! (Draw me after Thee)

以聖誕節為主題的詩歌大部分都是歷史悠久的
雖然是歷史悠久，卻不是一面世就立即變得家喻戶曉

德文歌詞的《平安夜》是在1818年寫成的，但其編曲僅有主旋律和結他配樂
有一說法是因為教會的管風琴損壞了，才需要以如此簡樸的音樂「應急」
幾十年後，英文歌詞才面世，從那時開始這首歌才變得著名；
現今我們所聽到的《平安夜》通常都又慢又靜，猶如安眠曲一般
但原作者 Franz Xaver Gruber 本身的主意是採用輕快的6/8拍，猶如一首舞曲

《新生王歌》於1739年初次出版，但作者 Charles Wesley 本身所寫的首句歌詞是
"Hark how all the Welkin rings, Glory to the Kings of Kings" (Welkin 中譯穹蒼)
作者也列明這些歌詞能夠以《Christ the Lord Is Risen Today / 基督今復活》的曲調唱出
所以無論從歌詞或配曲方面分析都能夠推論出這本來並不是聖誕歌
後來到了1754年，George Whitefield 改編了歌詞，才有我們今日所唱的
"Hark! the Herald Angels sing, Glory to the new-born King!"
一百年後的1855年，英國有一位音樂家叫William Hayman Cummings
他借用Felix Mendelssohn一首非基督教的作品來配上歌詞，才變成今日我們所認識的版本
我們今日所唱的《新生王歌》是輕快的，但原作者本身的要求是又慢又有莊嚴的
(如同 "Christ the Lord Is Risen Today / 基督今復活" 那種曲風)

幾百年之後這些詩歌是否又會改頭換面、面目全非？
小弟認為：倘若仍能夠以改頭換面的形象出現，必定已熬得過時間的考驗
否則那些詩歌恐怕早已失傳、無人問津了
