This is the first time I have a duty in the HKCEC. Unlike those volunteers or part-time helpers (e.g. those in the annual show of music ministries), I get fully paid for this.
In this event our company insists on targeting company visitors instead of domestic market. Most products in the booth are for display only. Retail products are very rare and of small quantities only. While other companies are busy selling out products (and eventually emptying their stock), what I do is completely opposite: promoting new concepts, explaining product mechanisms and exchanging business cards.
I expect to see quite a few, if not dozens of, people I personally know in the venue. As it turns out, that does not happen on my case. Might actually be good for me, as the existence of our booth looks rather out of place. (One of the organizers is friend of my boss, and he personally invites my boss to join the event, so my boss cannot reject the offer.)
